Zimbabwe has been left with only a cosmetic Independence. But our people are showing strength of character
By Brian Chibvongodze
Under normal circumstances, a sovereign country is supposed to have both Independence and Freedom. Sovereign countries like England, France, United States of America, South Africa, e.t.c, have both Independence and Freedom.
But this has not been the case for Zimbabwe.
Paradoxically, Zimbabwe as a country has independence, but it does not have freedom.
Whereas; the two ideas, Independence and Freedom are intertwined and interdependent with each other. It is an anomaly for a sovereign country to have Independence and lack the Freedom to conduct its own business.
Sadly, this anomaly has been the case for Zimbabwe since the illegal imposition of sanctions in 2001 by the United States of America.
This was after Zimbabwe took its own land from the colonial white settlers in the year 2000 under the Fast-Tracked Land Reform Program, which allowed the expropriation of land without compensation.
The Zimbabwean government took its land for the purposes of achieving complete decolonisation and total emancipation of its own citizens, which was in line with realising full independence and total freedom.
But this did not go well with the United States of America (USA) and its European Allies.
In response to the move by the Zimbabwean government, USA illegally imposed economic sanctions on Zimbabwe by enacting the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001 (ZiDERA).
In 2002, the European Union (EU) also illegally imposed economic sanctions on Zimbabwe which they call “Restrictive Measures”.
This was followed by issuing of numerous Executive Orders (EOs), EO-13288, EO-13391, EO-13469, which were signed by different USA presidents using their Executive Powers.
USA purports that the issuing of these EOs against Zimbabwe was on the basis of pursuing the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. §§ 1701 et seq.) (“IEEPA”) and the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. §§ 1601 et seq.) (“NEA”).
In this case, IEEPA and NEA gives the US president powers to prohibit banking activities, confiscate public and private property, and this was done to cripple and destroy the Zimbabwean economy through incapacitation and blockades.
All these acts by the EU and the US were in contravention of the United Nations (UN) Charter and the (1648) Westphalian Constitution of the World Order which emphasised the principle of sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other states.
This complete disregard of the key principles of a nation state by the EU and the US were aimed at achieving the regime change agenda in Zimbabwe.
In cognisance of this, the EU and the US devised and deployed numerous weapons of economic mass destruction against Zimbabwe.
These includes: Isolation of Zimbabwe from the international trade and financial systems; Incapacitation of the Zimbabwean government by targeting key institutions in the public and private sector that sustains the Zimbabwean economy.
It is imperative to note that once a country is isolated and incapacitated, the situation creates a Dependency syndrome. This is whereby, a country will be depending on donations from friends of goodwill, because it will be unable to produce on its own.
A sustained campaign of hatred, seeking to deligitimise the government of the people
Over and above that, the EU and the US reinforced their illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe by waging a psychological and sentiment warfare against the Zimbabwean government, and the battlefield of this warfare became the Zimbabwean minds.
The USA Embassy and the EU member states Embassies which are hosted in Zimbabwe went on an overdrive campaign to delegitimise the Zimbabwean government.
These Western Embassies launched a perpetual attack against the Zimbabwean government through social media, mainstream media and print media.
This false narrative against the Zimbabwean government goes as follows: The scourge that is eating away the Zimbabwean economy and chasing away foreign investors in Zimbabwe is Corruption, Incompetence of the Zimbabwean leadership, Misgovernance, Nepotism, Cronyism, and the Zimbabwean government is the monster that abducts and kill its own citizens.
In all this, the EU and the US, managed to recruit, brainwash and miseducate some of the influential Zimbabwean citizens, and they are now acting as the mouthpieces or proxies of the Western hostile nations.
These includes: opposition political mis-leaders, some political activists who masquerade themselves as NGO’s, journalists and lawyers.
Miseducation by the imperialists
Through this miseducation by the Western Imperialist powers, the influential Zimbabwean citizens were hoodwinked into this false narrative against the Zimbabwean government and they have put it on refrain.
These influential Zimbabweans are now in the business of demonizing their own country whenever they are given an opportunity on any given platform.
These influential Zimbabwean citizens have become African warriors fighting the battle of the Berlin Conference Cabal.
Sadly, the innocent Zimbabwean citizens have been cunningly contrived to drink from the poisoned chalice of the Western propaganda, which portrays the Zimbabwean government as a gigantic monster that does not respect the rights of its own citizens.
In this case, innocent Zimbabwean citizens are being weaponised to turn against their own government.
However, it totally beats my imagination that Zimbabwe is still regarded as a sovereign and independent country after all these illegal, disproportionate and unreasonable targeting of its own citizens by the Berlin Conference Cabal. In my own view, instead of the Zimbabweans enjoying Zim @41, Zimbabweans are Enduring Zim @41.
This is because the sovereignty and the independence of Zimbabwe were taken away in 2001 when the legislators in the US and Europe began to make laws for Zimbabwe. Since then, Zimbabwe was left with only cosmetic Independence.
Thus, sanctions whether targeted or not, undermine the independence of a country, and in this case, Zimbabwe can only regain its Independence when the Western Imperialists have unconditionally removed of all their sanctions on Zimbabwe.
