Former Zimbabwe international and Dynamos captain Desmond Maringwa – now a football administrator and President of FUZ – has emerged as one of the key brand ambassadors for Poket4Money.
Gazza featured in a series of promotional videos this week – alongside media personality and businessman Conrad Mwanza, and Scandal actress Mbonisi Mbo Mahocs Mahonondo – as brand ambassadors for Mbinga Comes To Town with Poket4Money – a new app that allows users to start and run their own mobile businesses, increase product offerings, juggle with customers, and get more earnings with no hustle – all right from one’s smartphone.
The app – which is already in use with Zororo Phumulani agents – is the latest financial services product offering where agents have made life easy for policyholders to buy – and pay for basic money market services – electricity, airtime, flights, bus tickets, DSTv, receive your salary in the wallet, order and pay for groceries.
The transactional app – allows users to buy groceries from South Africa to Zimbabwe through Mupedzanhamo Online Groceries, which partnered with Gains Cash and Carry in Zimbabwe last year.
Gains boasts over 60 outlets throughout Zimbabwe – gives users a great network in cross-border shopping, a network of product suppliers and convenience in shopping and product range.
“Mbinga coming to South Africa – this May. Watch this space for details,” Maringwa said in a series of promotional videos released by the company this week, saying that Mbinga Season had arrived with winter in South Africa, and it was time for everyone to sign up.
The standard Poket4Money user manual also features a button where one can play lotto and can be used by anyone – from spaza shops and hair saloons to internet cafes, churches, supermarkets, small, medium and large enterprises – and most importantly individuals seeking to earn extra cash with stock on your phone.
One of the key features of the Mbinga is the ability for events and organisers of gatherings to create and implement a ticketing system – which eliminates paper tickets completely – as users will now arrive at their event, scan through a QR code and redeem their entry.
The promotional videos – which also feature Zim Achievers Awards founder Conrad Mwanza and Scandal’s Chichi Mahocs ‘Intombi ethe Qha’ – said that convenience for Zimbabweans in the diaspora had never been better, and media would be awash this season with the arrival of Mbinga in South Africa.
Mbinga is a Zimbabwean new dictionary slang, commonly associated with late Zimbabwean socialite Genius Kadungure who was a highflier businessman – but died in a mysterious road accident last year.
But on the streets Zimbabweans have come to describe the Mbinga as a streetwise and smart businessman or businesswoman, popular with the masses on the ground and looked upon as a community leader and one who is a tycoon of the neighbourhood.
The origins of the word itself are unclear, but are typically restricted to a particular context or group of people – Mbinga yebhora, Mbinga ye ma gitare, Mbinga ye politics etc – and was chosen by the marketers of Poket4Money as resonating with the millennials Bozza come to Town – using a smart app to make online business.
With Poket4Money Trader App – one is able to browse a selection of services, details of ease signing up, the range of commissions that you will get as an agent of the product, all the basics of buying and selling and also standard receiving and making payment via eft from any bank account in South Africa.
Subscribers of the Mbinga will be able to transfer money from one user to another and the rollout this month will feature more high profile brand ambassadors, as well as chance to win cash prizes and merchandise.
