Five things that you need to know (now) about Cabo Delgado, and the humanitarian crisis

Here are five things you need to know about how this conflict is affecting the people in northern Mozambique:
1. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced
2. People flee with nothing and are in need of everything
3. Huge psychological trauma
4. An already fragile health system has been further impacted
5. The needs outweigh the current humanitarian response on the ground
Mozambique is home to incredible natural beauty. As you travel from Pemba, capital of the northern province of Cabo Delgado, to Montepuez, its second-largest city, you see countless baobab trees and the most beautiful birds, such as Zanzibar red bishops and Bertram’s weavers, flying across the landscape.
You also see many people walking alongside the road, carrying small colourful bundles containing their belongings.
