Change of Winds on the African Story Telling Arena – with 26 news bulletins, and counting

The Sunday Express

This week was another eventful package of daily news broadcasts on StarSat Channel 120 – and for our own newsreaders at Jit Television News Bulletin. This means five full bulletins of six slots per day – much of it current affairs – broadcasting to 30 countries in Africa at one go – and making sure that 7:30pm will never be the same for our viewers and Africa at large.

StarTimes is the leading digital TV operator in Africa – serving 13 million DVB subscribers and 20 million OTT users with a signal covering the whole continent and a massive distribution network of 170+ brand halls and 30,000+ distributors in 37 countries.

StarTimes owns a featured content platform, with 600 authorized channels consisting of news, movies, series, sports, entertainment, children’s programs, etc. The company’s vision is “To ensure that every African family can access, afford, watch and share the beauty of digital TV”

We are on a mission to win this with Jit TV News – many have spoken about how African news is dominated by international broadcasters for a long time and when we talk about Seeing News Differently – being on StarSat and on the Jit TV Daily News Bulletin has certainly gained new meaning.

But it is at the Sunday Express News Show where the presenters get to meet the movers and shakers in the digital corridors on The Sunday Express – and this week was no exception as newsreader Lennox Wasara got to meet – up close – with top South African wine connoisseur Tania Herwill of the Global Retail Business Network.

It was a week to remember for the newsreader as he got to discuss anything and everything from fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) also known as consumer packaged goods or (CPG) – defined as products with a rapid shelf turnover – to low-cost items such as food, drink, toiletries and cosmetics.

The GRBN is described as being on the forefront of consumer goods throughout South Africa and on the continent – from launches and pricing to – market and grow into significant brands within the FMCG arena, through solid relationships and experience over more than three decades.

They proudly boast the Shoprite Checkers Supplier of the Year Award 2019, for the Inland Region, in the Liquor and Wine Category.

And being on the ball – Herwill brought a couple of wine brands to Jit TV studio and it was pretty clear during the Sunday Express interview recording that Herwill is as much an expert on products and services – but also – wine.

Infact she is a true wine connoisseur – an apt description of an individual who has deep knowledge of wine – from tasting and appreciation – and right through to the history and origins of the beverage as well as the gastronomic aspects – and what a good wine bottle looks like.

Wasara got more than just an interview but a newer understanding of wine what varietals are grown – to tasting and analyzing wine for what it is, without much bias.
