Unhealthy behaviours include smoking, adding too much salt in the diet, eating foods that contain a lot of sugar and excessive intake of alcohol. Smoking and health Smoking has harmful effects to the body. It affects most organs in the body leading to disability and disease. Smoking destroys your airways leading to a condition called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which is marked by a chronic productive cough and intermittent episodes of feeling short of breath. In severe forms of COPD patients become oxygen dependent. Smoking also causes heart disease, strokes and cancer. It increases your risk of suffering from eye problems.
