Julius Shamu Releases Toasting Grit: Get Ready For The Chapter By Chapter Series

The Sunday Express Newsmakers

Businessman and Digital Sunday Express Newsmaker Julius Shamu – has published Toasting Grit – which – for the first time – is shedding light into the remarkable journey of his business philosophy, entrepreneurship ventures, news media personality profile and the other side of a story-teller who loves good adventure, exhilaration, and enterprise.

Fresh from redefining his relationship with the DSE News Network this week – Shamu sent the signed copy of the new book to the Sunday Express this week – and we received it – with many thanks.

And in it he sent through this message: Dear DSE News Network: “The World Is Waiting For You To Unleash Your Full Potential…” – Julius Shamu

“Yes the book is out now. We have already released it to the public in Cape Town. I took some time away from public life and the work in radio at Equal Access to devote more time to complete this book.

“There are quite a few names that I have mentioned in the book and there are a lot of motivations, good stories, and things that define business and entrepreneurship that I have written about.

“But let me not spoil the fun by giving away everything. You will have to get the book to read it,” Shamu said.

Shamu rose to prominence on the DSE News Network through the Zim Excellence Awards which chronicled the achievements of Zimbabweans in the diaspora and its initial launch with the Zimbabweans in Western Cape chapter proving very popular – bringing out such iconic stories like the Zimbabweans who turned a disused farm into a profitable venture – the N7 Farmers.

The story of the three farmers gained worldwide acclaim and even former South African president Thabo Mbeki quoted on the unique transformation of the relationship between man, land and the untold stories of Zimbabweans in the diaspora.

It’s no wonder that the chapter of the farmers – is in the book – and very much so.

While Shamu was popularising the Zim Excellency Awards – this was at the same time that he was bringing Thomas Mapfumo to the Bassline in Johannesburg and setting up Equal Access TV – which was dedicated to profiling Zimbabwean businesses doing good in South Africa.

Seeing News Differently

The culmination of (this book) Toasting Grit – is a testament to the strategic partnerships that Shamu has forged with the Digital Sunday Express which has resulted in numerous other trans-media enterprises in which we have collaborated in current affairs news networking and content sharing – a good number of whom came through either directly or indirectly through Julius Shamu at the Zim Excellency Awards.

The news of the release of Shamu’s book will certainly add (new chapters) to the maxim that the Sunday Express lives by – the one of Seeing News Differently – and Shamu join(s) other luminaries of the DSE News Network like Aubrey Mavhuli who has serialised two of his books with the DSE News Network – and people like Nhamo Muchagumisa who can write non-stop for all 52 weeks of the year – and deliver the fun of their genre.

On The DSE we never stop celebrating excellence – and Shamu – through Toasting Grit – will cement his status as beacon of celebration and recognition for the remarkable achievements of Zimbabweans living abroad – and him being central to many news events – is a showcase of community engagement and plain talent, resilience, and innovation among the Zimbabwean diaspora community.

With the Sunday Express we have embraced the power to story telling and the bedrock to the immense potential within our digital newspaper lies among the readers, followers, strategic partners, stakeholders, subscribers, analysts, commentators, experts, opinion leaders, newsmakers and those in the know – through highlighted, recognition and uplifting each other’s achievements.
