SOWETO – Zimbabwe increased their chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco following a resounding 3-1 victory against Namibia at Orlando Stadium in South Africa on Monday night.

In the Group J clash, the Warriors needed a brace from Walter Musona in the 50th and 61st minutes and a goal courtesy of second half substitute Prince Dube in the 89th minute to ensure that they kept the pressure on table toppers Cameroon, who had beaten Kenya 1-0 in the other group fixture at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Uganda.

Another substitute Godwin Eiseb pulled a goal back for the Brave Warriors at the stroke of full time but it was not enough to deny the Warriors their second victory of the campaign.

Musona’s first goal was assisted by Terrence Dzvukamanja while the second came from the penalty spot.

Meanwhile, Dube, who features for Young Africans (Yanga SC) in the Tanzanian Premier League, scored after being set up by defender Jordan Zemura.

The Warriors had beaten Namibia 1-0 in the first meeting, meaning they managed to haul maximum six points from the Brave Warriors.

The victory kept Zimbabwe second in the group with eight points, two less than the Indomitable Lions, while Kenya stayed third on four points and Namibia last without a point.
